I picked up a copy of Vogue’s June 2012 edition and inside I found an advertisement for Miu Miu’s Summer Jewelry Line. Earrings, bracelets, and necklaces in two designs–one cameo face of a woman with her hair pulled up and herself wearing lovely little gold drop earrings or a second cameo face of a woman with a longer ponytail hairstyle and headband. Both women wear gold bead necklaces. If you prefer the necklaces and bracelets to the earrings, you can choose either black velvet or crystals and pearls to surround your precious cameo. These pieces are absolutely gorgeous. I saw them in the Miu Miu boutique in SoHo last month and I fell in love. The pieces are reminiscent of Cleopatra-style jewelry and the cameos evoke little Egyptians. These cameos are oozing with Victorian charm, yet oversized and bright in color—marigold, red, pink, white and two shades of blue. The collection ranges from $495–$995—but it is definitely worth the investment. This is statement jewelry at its finest. Miu Miu’s Crystal Cameos are not just about fashion—they are about art. This jewelry will make people talk.
For those of you who don’t know, Miu Miu is Miuccia Prada’s secondary line, launched in 1992. It is named after Miuccia’s nickname, Miu Miu. Miuccia once said of her Miu Miu line, “It’s about the bad girls I knew at school, the ones I envied.”
There is no doubt that this Summer 2012 jewelry line has a hint of bad girl in it and your friends will surely envy you for owning it!
